PIL in collaboration with USAID, set out to set up a franchise model where new startups were established to extend product accessibility to be closer to farmers. The franchises were fully trained by PIL and quickly became centers of excellence in their villages interns of quality of advice and technologies that the farmers in their localities were able to access.

A total of over 50,000 farmers were impacted by the 23 franchises set up in Northern and southern Tanzania with many having grown into stable medium sized operations within a span  of just 3 years providing employment to approximately 30 young men 47% of them being women.
